Prefatory Notes by Guru
one: Note to the readers
This book seeks to record a reality that I have perceived. It
reflects what has been revealed to me; it reflects the experiential
conviction that has evolved over a period of time in my life of faith.
Whoever attempts to bring out such perception of the nature of
reality would appear to the contemporaries to contradict existing
knowledge. Some of what is accepted as history might have to be
subjected to rewriting.
The Sakteya, Saiva and Vaishnava streams among Hindu
worship systems have arisen from certain lapses in the past on the
part of rulers and those who guided them in policy matters. It marks
an absence of proper assessment which would have been possible
if they were to work in unison with men of wisdom – masters and
prophets-- who have come to the world from time to time. Even the
followers of these great men did not understand their messages. With
their erroneous ideas people tried to present their object of worship
as the Supreme. Also the pundits among them linked the philosophy
of nondualism to their worship system. This is what we see all
along. The corpus of such thoughts has become current knowledge.
Yet another tendency is seen in no less measure. There are pundits
who link to this knowledge, the experiences of evolved masters of
the direct path of experience. Such pundits attribute everything to
those masters.
